What exactly is a Medical Laboratory Technician and where are they employed?
The Associate Degree Medical Laboratory Technician performs a wide variety of complex biochemical, bacteriological, serological, hematological tests that lead to the diagnosis of diseases and aids physicians in monitoring the progress of the patient’s health. In addition, MLT’s cross match blood, perform quality control in the laboratory, maintain complex biological instruments, and perform phlebotomy. Medical Laboratory Technicians work in a hospital, research, veterinary, reference, or physician’s office laboratories, emergency medical centers, public health facilities, for the American Red Cross or for pharmaceutical companies. With additional education, jobs are available in DNA research, transplant and forensic medicine. There is a shortage of qualified laboratory Employees. Employment opportunities are many. Some area hospitals are offering sign-on bonuses

What is the typical salary for a MLT?
Salary after DMLT is high.

How would you describe Tri-C’s MLT Program?
The Medical Laboratory Technology program at Sharda University is an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree that gives students an integrated curriculum of classroom work and an abundance of hands-on, professional experience. The program offers students a solid foundation in mathematics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, medical laboratory procedures, and medical ethics. This, along with the integrated liberal arts/general education courses and a 900-hour clinical practicum experience in a Cleveland area hospital, results in a high quality, well-rounded program. Tri-C program’s technical courses are offered at the Metropolitan Campus, and the general education and science courses may be taken at any of Tri-C’s three campuses. The 900 hour, hands-on clinical training is performed in the laboratories of Cleveland area hospitals. A short-term (16 week) blood drawing course (Phlebotomy) is also available through MLT Department.

How long is the program? Can I complete the program on a part-time basis?
It takes two school years (five full time semesters) to complete the AAS Degree program including the semester of pre-admission courses. You will carry a reduced credit load if general education and/or science courses have been have been completed upon entering the program. The second year of the program, September through March, consists of a clinical rotation ( 28 hours a week) in an area hospital in addition to advanced technical lecture courses and other associate degree requirement courses.

Students are admitted to the DMLT Associate Degree Program on a first come first served basis after the mention criteria has been met.

Can I transfer credits from another college or university?
No, credit transfer from other university is not available

Is the program offered in the evenings or weekends?
The DMLT program is considered a regular programof 1 years.and DIP-OTT is 2 years program.

How much does the program cost?
The program total Cost is 80,000 for DMLT and 80,000 for Dip-OTT
