- Physiotherapy is a field of health science. It aims at improving/curing problems related to body movements, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life.
- It is done with minimum use of drugs relying more on exercises & body movements, or various other techniques like heat radiation, messages & water therapy, electrotherapy, etc. Physiotherapy promotes good health & functioning of the human body and aims at 'rehabilitation' or restoring of the lost body movements, by checking the deterioration of and streamlining functioning of body muscles.
- Physiotherapist’s deals with problems like back and neck pain, stiffness and restricted movements, spinal & joint problems (e.g. arthritis), muscular problems, cerebral palsy, injuries caused due to sports & neurological conditions like strokes & multiple sclerosis.
- There are further specializations like intergumentary physical therapy (skin, burns & wounds), musculoskeletal physical therapy (joint mobilization through heat & electrotherapy), neurological (for improving neurological/motor conditions), cardiopulmonary physiotherapy (acute asthma & chest infections etc.)
