PROCTORIAL SYSTEM - (MENTORSHIP & COUNSELING)
In order to continuously and regularly monitor the academic progress
of the students and to redress their problems, a Proctorial system
is introduced, with 15 to 20 students attached to each Proctor,
who is a faculty member of the college. The Chief Proctor (Dean
Students Welfare) co-ordinates the Proctors' interaction with the
students.
The Dean of Students' Welfare also functions as the Chief Proctor,
and oversees and co-ordinates the Proctorial activities. He analyses
the feedback from the students (given through their Proctors) and
briefs the Principal, who in turn, initiates appropriate action
by reviewing each case and discussing with the HOD concerned, if
necessary. The college encourages parents to be in regular contact
with the Proctor/Chief Proctor/HOD/Principal. It sends the progress
report of the student directly by registered post to the parent,
a week after the first internal test. Some of the parents do meet
the Proctors/Chief Proctor/HOD/Principal and some feedback is obtained
through them. Additional feedback is obtained through informal discussions
that Proctor/Chief Proctor have with the students. The suggestion
box also provides some feedback. The parents, in general, appear
to be quite satisfied and happy with the efforts being made by the
college administration in looking after the progress of their wards.
The internal discipline etc. of the college is also looked after
by the Proctors / Chief Proctor.
