Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), an all India level exam, is administrated and conducted by Indian Institute of Science (IIS) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) on the behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. After obtaining the B.Tech Degree from the top institute, students normally do a job in a reputed company, MBA Course or M.Tech program. M.Tech Program gives a direction for a research-oriented job or faculty position in a university. Many engineering colleges or institutes specify GATE Exam as an essential qualification for taking admissions in the post graduate programs. The minimum qualification for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is described as under: -
The Candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Pharmacy (four years after 10 +2) and those students are eligible who are in the final or pre-final year of such programs.

The Master’s degree holder in any branch of Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications or equivalent is also eligible and those who are appearing in the final or pre-final exam of such programs.

Candidates, who are in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree program and Dual Degree program in Engineering/Technology, can also appear in the exam.
GATE Exam is usually held on the second Sunday of February every year. In this exam, candidate should have to appear in a single paper of three hours duration. The exam pattern of this exam is objective type with a total of 150 questions in this time period.
